Greenmarket Green Light: Mozzarella Makeover at Trader Joe’s

Grocery store generic brands generally mean cheaper products, but at Trader Joe’s, they take it up a notch. Meet Burrata: Fresh mozzarella cheese filled with cream. This voluptuous bliss will enhance any sandwich (topped with prosciutto and olive oil in a baguette, perhaps?), caprese salad, and ultimately, your life. Burrata alone is a worthwhile reason to trek down to Union Square, but don’t blame me for getting swept away and having to carry one too many heavy Trader Joe bags uptown.

Wondering how to make a caprese salad? Cut a tomato into round slices; add salt to liking, then tenderly slice one ball of Burrata mozzarella cheese and place on tomato; sprinkle basil, drizzle a bit of olive oil over the mozzarella, et voila!

(Trader Joe’s Burrata – Contains two 4 oz. balls of heaven – $4.99)
