Pagoda at Ding Dong Lounge this Friday

Actor Michael Pitt, of Headwig and the Angry Inch and The Dreamer’s fame, also has a band. Indie actors with rock bands are not exactly anomalies, but Pitt actually takes his music seriously. The band, Pagoda, will be playing right here in Morningside Heights at the Ding Dong Lounge on Friday.

Pagoda is reminiscent of ’90s grunge, and since Pitt actually played Kurt Cobain in a Gus Van Sant flick, he has all the brooding stage presence that that genre of music requires. Plus, Thurston Moore produced the band’s most recent album. Not bad for an actor gone musician.

To hear the band for yourself (and see Pitt in all his pouty-lipped glory) without leaving the neighborhood, head over the Ding Dong Lounge (929 Columbus Ave. at 106th st) on Friday at 10 p.m. Tickets are $7.
