SPEC TECH: NOT TO BE A BLOG SOLELY ABOUT MY iPHONE
Hello fellow Columbians!
Jeff Petriello here. I have been not-so-gainfully employed by the Spectator and the wonderful Elizabeth Simins to write this little blog about technology. Seeing as gadgets and gizmos seem to be playing an increasingly massive role in our daily lives, it’s only appropriate someone (me) wastes his time telling you about all the supersweet new ones that none of us will be able to afford come November. But leave that to the big boys and girls people! Let’s start looking at some shiny stuff:
Not what you may have expected, but sweet nonetheless.
Apple has announced a private, invitation-only “Town Hall” event in the mystical land of Cupertino beginning at 10 AM on October 14. As much as I’d love it to be a surprise presidential debate settled via funniest PhotoBooth faces or something, I’m pretty sure McCain is a PC. Instead, we can look forward to what most enthusiasts believe will be the release of new laptops. And we’re not talking just an inside job here – many believe we will see a complete redesign of the MacBook and MacBook Pro including a Tablet style interface, touch screen touch pad, rainbow colors, and the ability to make you envious of being born in 1991.
Ryan Block, former editor of Engadget, raises a good question in his post about whether or not this is a good time for Apple to release new laptops in light of the economic crisis. Seeing the thirty minute line for iPhones at 1 AM on Fifth Avenue just a few weeks ago however, I’d have to argue that yes, anytime is a good time for Apple. It’s definitely an interesting debate though, and one in which your comments would be much appreciated.
But I won’t bug you any longer. Thanks for reading the first Spec Tech blog post, and I hope you’ll continue to do so. I’m always looking for help, so if you’re interested in getting involved with the blog or if you just have a nice juicy tech tip you want to send my way, shoot me an email at jfp2106@columbia.edu . Otherwise, get out of Butler and be happy IT’S THURSDAY.
